ECN Wind Energy holds a leading international position in the field of wind energy research. A convenient truth: the wind energy sector has been growing exponentially over the last decades and will continue this growth in the next decades as it is the only emission free bulk renewable electricity option that can be implemented in the short term at relatively low cost.

The activities at ECN Wind Energy focus on offshore wind power plants and should lead to a reduction in cost of energy (CoE) of offshore wind power and, related to this, increased return on investment (ROI) for offshore wind power plants.

Together with (inter)national partners, ECN Wind Energy develops knowledge and technology that will help the wind industry to innovate, and thus reduce the CoE. Clients of ECN Wind Energy are wind farm developers, constructors, operation & maintenance companies, and the Dutch government. ECN has its own wind turbine test location in Wieringermeer with various turbines for experimental research. The growing unit has approximately 50 employees.

Analyst Wind Energy Measurements Job Description

As Analyst Wind Energy Measurements, you:

• analyse operational data from our measurement campaigns, like meteo and turbine related data (loads, electric, noise), both for commercial and R&D projects;
• perform predefined analysis according international standards but research as well.
• validate data, process data and report about it;
• develop new algorithms, verify your software and know how to control it;
• contribute in design of our database and processing infrastructure;
• maintaining and updating standardized procedures;
• help develop and maintain new services and tools for innovative analysis of wind energy measurement data;
• will work in multidisciplinary project teams where you will contribute by performing applied research and reporting the results, focused on meeting the needs of ECN's clients;
• co-operate with industrial partners and research institutes, both national and international;
• will help acquiring new assignments by translating client's needs into suitable (advice) projects;
• do all this in order to contribute to the mission of ECN Wind Energy: lower the cost of (mainly offshore) wind energy.

Analyst Wind Energy Measurements Job Requirements

You have:

• an academic technical degree, preferably in the area of applied physics (with numerical analysis experience), (applied) mathematics, mechanics, measurement technology or similar;
• knowledge of and experience with (innovative) data analysis methods;
• great analytical skills;
• experience with measurement data, electronic sensors, statistical analysis and measurement uncertainty;
• preferably experience in developing software algorithms (Visual Basic, Matlab);
• preferably experience in working with databases.

• A dynamic and enthusiastic person who is very much solution oriented. Your motivation and drive comes from the wish to contribute to the growth and innovation of sustainable energy.
• You are an initiator and able to perform your work in an autonomous way, while keeping focus on both the co-operation and high quality results within your projects.
• You have strong communication skills and are able to present yourself in English and preferably in Dutch. 
• As your playground is the world, some travelling is part of your job.
