Internship: Create scripts to generate test (progress) reports

Background
Within Vanderlande we use HP ALM Quality Center (QC) for lifecycle management of our testware. All requirements, test specifications and test results are stored in QC in a more or less standardized way. However due to small differences in the structure in which the data is stored it is hard and time consuming to retrieve the current / final test status for the Systems Under Test with the predefined reporting algorithms provided with QC. QC does however provide an SQL interface to query on the data.

Assignment
Reduce the time it takes to get a proper progress report. Some pre-defined reporting scripts need to be created with SQL. These scripts need to be setup in a way that:

• They can deal with the variances in structure that are used within Vanderlande to store requirements, test cases and test results;
• They can easily be re-used for future projects;
• They can be triggered on a timed interval to allow trend graphs to be generated;
• The resulting data can be fed into Excel for further analysis / reporting by Visual Basic scripts;
• Required skills: SQL and VB.
