Applied Physicist Job Description

CERN is looking for talented individuals specialising in applied physics to join its Beams Department, which hosts the Groups responsible for beam generation, acceleration, diagnostics, controls and performance optimisation. This position will be in the Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Applied Physics or a related field.

Technical competencies

• Analysis and optimization of detector performance.
• Assembly and integration of detectors.
• Operation and support of experimental facilities.
• Testing and validation of detector, accelerator and beam line components.
• Simulation, design and development of (parts of) detectors.

Applied Physicist Job Requirements

Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Applied Physics or a related field.

Experience:

• Demonstrated experience in the field of applied physics with emphasis on the design, construction and testing of experimental beam line detectors.
• Experience in the field of gas based and optical particle detection technologies and related read-out electronics will be an advantage.
