    Researcher in Applied Physics / Electrical Engineering

    An enthusiastic and enterprising researcher in the field of applied physics with an affinity for electrical engineering and food processing technology.
     
    Wageningen Food & Biobased Research, part of Wageningen UR, offers a challenging and market-oriented environment where motivated scientific professionals conduct research for companies, government organisations and knowledge institutes. One of our research lines is the development of mild preservation technologies that rely on the use of electric fields for the sustainable production of high-quality foods. As a researcher you will be responsible for the further development and application of these technologies by:

    • Carrying out multidisciplinary applied-research projects in the field of mild preservation technologies such as pulsed electric fields or cold plasma;
    • Translating recent findings in the field of electrical engineering towards scalable, innovative manufacturing processes and equipment for the food industry;
    • Determining the effect of process conditions on the properties of food products and intermediates, using different physical-chemical and microbiological models and analytical methods.
     
    We expect you to be enthusiastic, full of clever and innovative ideas, and able to develop and carry out concrete project plans together with your colleagues and industrial partners. 

    Researcher in Applied Physics / Electrical Engineering Job Requirements

    • An ambitious colleague with quality awareness and an inquisitive mind, who is able to carry out and report experiments, both autonomously and in cooperation with a project team;
    • A degree in Applied Physics, Process Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a proven track record in an R&D environment;
    • Subject knowledge in the area of food processing technology, preferably in the field of mild preservation technologies;
    • Excellent communication skills and good verbal and written command of Dutch and English.

    We offer a temporary position with an average working time of 36 hours per week, for the period of 1 year, with the possibility of permanency after positive evaluation. The salary depends on your educational background and experience and has a maximum of  € 4618,--. gross per month.
