EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency. Its role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.
EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.

As we continue to develop the ground segment for the Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) satellite system we are now recruiting for a Ground Segment (GS) Engineer. The role will initially support the coordination of technical activities and latterly will provide post-delivery support to verification and commissioning of the successive versions of the MTG satellite system.
Your role at EUMETSAT
This is a great opportunity to join EUMETSAT and to play an important role in an exciting long term programme. Following on from Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) the new MTG programme will offer an evolution of the imaging service, including a new Lightning Imager, and a state-of-the-art sounding service providing infrared and ultraviolet measurements.
Your role will initially be the coordination of technical activities involving the teams responsible for the procurement and development of ground segment facilities. You will support all elements of the development cycle and planning in line with the requirements at system and programme levels.
This is an opportunity to identify and analyse technical conflicts – and to prepare decisions to resolve these. We support new ideas from our colleagues and partners, with a focus on innovation and emerging technologies. You will also provide Ground Segment support to the Operations Preparations team during the validation phase.
With a background in the specification, development, integration and testing of Earth Observation ground segment systems; you will have experience of technical management within a formal environment, and be used to following formal standards and documented processes.
You will work with our international partners and colleagues, using your strong interpersonal and communication skills to interpret and present complex problems and solutions. You will be core to defining the requirements for our future missions.
