Career Opportunities: Project Engineer Job Description

Purpose of the job
Develop and implement projects of high technological level in the area of paper production, coating and finishing, with quality, cost and deadlines compatible with the best international standards.
Develop and implement automation systems in paper, coater and finishing machines.

Main responsibility

• Elaborate estimates of investments (budget) for the analysis of the technical and economic feasibility of the projects, involving the various specialties of detailed engineering (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and civil), as well as obtaining quotations (budget) of equipment.
• Develop with suppliers, specialists and consultants automation projects for paper, coater and finishing machines.
• Support in the analysis of technical and economic feasibility of modernization projects or production expansion.
• Prepare balance sheets and project criteria  which will define the capacities / needs of the manufacturing area.
• Execute basic projects, including the definition of the main process equipment, the basic design of these equipment, the engineering flow charts and the lay-out of the installation, as well as defining the plant control and automation philosophy.
• Elaborate technical specifications of equipment and systems for the purchase, ensuring a complete and clear definition of the scope to be contracted.
• Analyze and compare the technical proposals of suppliers, equalizing the scope of supply.
• Elaborate technical opinion of the proposals, aiming to support the supply department in the commercial negotiation.
• Interface between the areas of engineering, production and maintenance.
• Interface with suppliers of equipment and systems
• Comment and approve the documents and drawings sent by the suppliers being responsible for consolidating the comments.
• Implement and monitor projects in progress regarding technical quality, taking corrective actions when necessary.
• Support the operation team during the period of the operational learning curve.
• Participate with operation and maintenance team of confirming the expected performance characteristics for the implanted equipment and / or systems

Required competencies and education

• Graduated in Electrical Engineering
• Three years of experience in industrial and automation projects
• Portuguese fluent
• English fluent
• Must be aware of the importance of safety and its procedures, in all environments, in the company, at home etc.
• Must have orientation and discipline regarding the safety rules
