Solmates is a spin-off company of the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, located at Science Park Twente, in Enschede, the Netherlands. It was founded from a specialized PLD research group (IMS) chaired by prof. Dave Blank and prof. Guus Rijnders. Its employees are highly recognized specialists in PLD of which many have a semiconductor industry background.

Since Solmates was established in 2007 it has generated multiple patents and has brought pulsed laser deposition from lab scale to production level. Currently Solmates has over half a dozen development and pilot production systems running at various customers worldwide.

Description of work
Solmates is a high-end OEM equipment supplier for the MEMS / LED / Semiconductor market. To enable continuous growth the Process Support engineer is part of team running the in-house lab facilities and PLD deposition equipment.

The Process Support engineer plays a crucial role in the overall realization of these goals in various development projects as well as enabling flawless executing of customer demos.

Process Support Engineer Job Requirements

Goals of the function

Support the PLD process development and managing the inhouse lab facilities and PLD process equipment. Provides input & technical expertise on process improvement plans as well as analysis of the results. Responsible for clear documentation of the achieved results.

Main tasks for a Process Support Engineer:

• Operation of Solmates in-house deposition equipment
• Coordinates planning of the PLD systems
• Responsible for first time right customer demo wafer processing
• Responsible for process qualification of test and demo wafers
• Able to operate all required metrology / analysis equipment to determine the quality
• Gives asked and un-asked input on process performance
• Generates written procedures of all critical activities
• Provides input for system improvements (stability & process control)
• Measures & documents hardware characteristics of the system
• When applicable is able to travel to customers worldwide for on-site process qualification
