The Belgian Welding Institute (www.bil-ibs.be) is a non profit research organisation known for its expertise in joining technologies and weldability of different materials. The main focus of the organisation concerns applied industrial research, consultancy, testing and failure analyses. The organisation also provides education and technical information by organising workshops, events and training sessions.
Based on its innovative and up to date knowledge The Belgian Welding Institute aims to develop and improve the technological know-how and performance of their members and of the Belgian industry in general. The organization employs - 15 engineers, consultants and welding engineers, and is represented in European and ISO commissions. The headquarters are located in Ghent.

CONSULTANT/PROJECT ENGINEER
French speaking Engineer with good communication skills

 
Job description

• You will be responsible for the roll-out of different projects related to welding quality, efficiency and optimisation.
• The scope of the projects you manage can be diverse: the solution to a small welding problem, the implementation of quality welding standards, the investigation of new technologies and applications.
• You will coordinate projects, and eventually execute yourself some projects, by maintaining close contact with both your colleagues welding experts and your management within the Belgian Welding Institute and all stakeholders at the client.
• You will maintain client contacts in different industries and companies and travel frequently between clients, mostly in the French speaking part of Belgium.
• Every question from the client drives you to broaden your knowledge and inform yourself through literature, seminars, in order to become a well-trusted advisor to your client. Moreover, you will get the opportunity to develop your welding expertise on the job, and thus become an advisor on welding standards, innovative techniques, materials and corrosion.

Consultant/project engineer Job Requirements

• You have a first professional track-record of at least 3 years in a metal related production environment in which you developed your expertise on materials, quality or welding techniques.
• You are a hands-on engineer and can rely on a good technical insight and understanding of complex technical problems. You are driven to solve problems and look for the best possible innovative technical solutions for your customers.
• You have sufficient technical-commercial affinity to match the needs of the client with the activities of The Belgian Welding Institute.
• The degree of an International Welding Engineer (IWE) is a plus.
• You are a good communicator (fluent in English and French) and coordinator who operates efficiently and communicates easily in projects where different stakeholders are involved.
