Function details:
The Research Scientist Cell Biology will develop and guide specific studies and research projects in cell biology to support the improvement of genetic transformation protocols of (plant) protoplasts. 
 
Expectations for this role include:

• Design experiments aiming at improvement of transformation technology.
• Actively participate in organizing, executing and supporting the plant transformation development projects.
• Set up and elaborate work protocols.
• Understand, interpret and report the obtained data.

Research Scientist Cell Biology Job Requirements

Education and qualifications:

• PhD (or master/Bio-engineer equivalent by experience) with solid background in plant transformation, plant genetics or related plant research domain. Experience in a similar position in seed/agrochemical industry is definitely a plus.
• At least 3 years experience in protoplast research or related field of (plant) biotechnology.
• Practical and hands on experience with isolation and transformation of protoplasts as well as with in vitro tissue culture techniques.
• Capacity to lead and motivate a small team.

• Highly motivated and result oriented team player with an eye for details.
• Proactive and quality minded person who can work independently.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills.
• Open minded and flexible team worker.
• Driven by enthusiasm, commitment and dedication.
• Sociable, ethical and trustworthy.

• Preferably Dutch mother tongue.
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.

• Limited travel requirements.
