Embedded Software Engineer Job Description

The Department:
Software & Electronics Department is responsible for the software development of robotic milking systems, feed systems and other products. A part of the software engineers develops embedded software, and other administrative software. The embedded systems run on different hardware platforms, including Infineon C166 and Linux PowerPC. The engineers have a wide remit within Lely. For the software engineer means that at the beginning of a development project that he actively responds to demands from the users, but also that he is not released until the full product releases.

Because of strong growth of the Organization we are looking for the Software & Electronics Department for multiple candidates for the job: Embedded Software Engineer (m/f) (40 hours, location, Rotterdam).

The function:
As Embedded Software Engineer you are responsible for the development and maintenance of operating systems for robotic milking systems and other stable equipment.

Main activities:

• The specification of operating systems;
• Designing embedded software;
• Deploying embedded software;
• Maintenance of existing embedded software;
• Setting up test procedures in collaboration with the Test Department.

Embedded Software Engineer Job Requirements

Your background:

• A rounded degree (Bachelor or Master) direction in technical Informatics etc.;
• Specializing in technical software;
• Knowledge of the programming languages C/C++;
• Knowledge of object-oriented methods;
• Knowledge of component based software engineering;
• Knowledge of networks and protocols, including CAN, Ethernet;
• Experience with real-time operating systems;
• Knowledge of robotic/automated systems or Mechatronics;
• Knowledge/experience with various microcontrollers, such as Infineon C166, PowerPC, ARM;
• Knowledge of version control systems.
• Fluent in English and Dutch
