Composites Engineer Job Description

Responsible for technical development, audits and evaluation of both composite materials (release projects) and suppliers that meet the organisation’s standards of quality and cost. As well as to conduct fundamental research to improve or generate new materials to improve quality of product and production processes. Participation in Blade Design Project teams.
 

• Evaluate first, second and third degree suppliers and raw materials in terms of quality (IGI, COC) and cost for short and long term delivery and capacity in order to release materials
• Combine technical and commercial aspects in negotiation of purchasing raw materials within a complex environment of internal and external interests in cooperation with the commercial team
• Deliver technical service support in terms of knowledge transfer and constant monitoring of material behaviour
• Conduct complex projects – mostly approval oriented – using existing or new methods and theories to test and develop new materials within quality, HSE and quantitative requirements
• Conduct complex research projects into materials and their behaviour with research institutes and universities.
• Set up laboratory tests, calculates and analyses test results and prepares detailed reports with recommendations and conclusions
• Ensure and monitors quality standards such as ISO/DIN/ASTM dictated and validated by GL/DNV
• Supervise, coordinate, monitor and evaluate evaluation, R&D or large scale tests within production organizations in India, China and USA to ensure (quality) standards are met and followed
• Set up and maintains documents on material specifications, release procedures, work instructions, test reports etc
• Develop and maintain technical expertise on advances and innovations in research and science in composite industry.

Composites Engineer Job Requirements

Profile: 

• Polytechnic college, institute of professional studies, or University of Technology in Physics, Materials, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• Prepared to travel internationally on occasion
• Relevant work experience in a (international) R&D environment
• Good communicative skills.
• A team player who functions well independently
• Good understanding of the English language Relevant experience with composite materials
