Seeking motivated Scientist to lead development in biopharmaceutical manufacturing
We are mandated on behalf of our client, a state-of-the-art biopharmaceutical manufacturing site, to seek a highly motivated scientist to act as deputy to the Head of the Unit.

The operations consist of commercial and clinical large-scale manufacturing for monoclonal antibodies produced from mammalian cell cultures. This role is in the unit responsible for the process and analytical technology transfers and performs trouble-shooting and late-stage development activities in its own bench-und pilot-scale laboratory

Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Leader      
In this position you participate in the coordination and planning of the unit’s activities (project management, resource management, budget and investments management) in accordance with the site’s Process Oriented Organization (POO) guidelines.
You participate in translating the site’s objectives and the biopharmaceutical operations orientation into strategic action plans for the unit. You define, implement and monitor indicators according to the strategic orientation.
In addition, you ensure good practices of laboratory testing, as well as scientific and regulatory monitoring.

Your mission will be to:

• develop and reinforce the Process Oriented Organization (POO) culture by facilitating and encouraging personal accountabilities. Provide guidance and mentoring to younger team members
• participate in translating the site’s objectives and biopharmaceutical operations orientation into strategic action plans for the unit
• coordinate and facilitate decisions within the unit and ensure their planning and implementation
• using technical, scientific and regulatory expertise, ensure good practices of laboratory testing as well as proper writing of scientific reports and regulatory documents within the unit. Participate in the resolution of major/critical deviations
• implement a long-term development plan (i.e. QbD, DoE, Multivariate Data Analysis) for the unit
• develop and monitor a LEAN SIX SIGMA strategy to guarantee competitiveness and compliance within the unit, in collaboration with the unit Head (including definition and monitoring of KPIs
• ensure a team-focused working environment
• ensure project-oriented costs and investments budget management as well as human/technical resource management, develops investment “business cases”
• when required, represent the unit externally and contribute to the global biopharmaceutical operation’s needs (global business cases, projects and initiatives).

Scientist Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Candidates interested in this position should have a PhD or Masters of Engineering in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry or related sciences with at least 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in cell culture and protein purification (in an industrial, small or large -scale setting) or in analytical methods development.
• Good knowledge of process validation and/or analytical methods validation.
• Further requirements include being a good team player with strong communication and people skills, established presentation and scientific/technical writing skills, good management skills with respect to planning, tracking, priority setting and adherence to project timelines.
• Excellent knowledge of GMP and regulatory environments (FDA, EMEA, ICH).
• Excellent knowledge of English (written & oral). Good knowledge in French (oral & written) would be an asset.
