The Institute for Research in Biomedicine - IRB Barcelona hires a Technology Resources Core Facilities Director to report directly to the Director of the institute in Barcelona, Spain.
 
INTRODUCTION
IRB Barcelona is a self-standing, non-profit institution devoted to basic and applied biomedical research. It was set up in 2005 jointly by the Government of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona and is located at the Barcelona Science Park.

Research is organized into five programmes: namely Cell and Developmental Biology, Structural and Computational Biology, Molecular Medicine, Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, and Oncology.

IRB Barcelona researchers have access to state-of-the-art technology, provided by several in-house core facilities plus additional external services.

The institute currently has more than 470 members (scientific, technical and administrative staff) from all over the world, who work across disciplines to advance research in the biomedical sciences.

RESPONSABILITIES

• Foster international and national collaborations in technology networks, aligned to IRB Barcelona strategy.
• Draw up institutional agreements (Parc Cientific, UPC, UB, etc.) linked to access to technology.
• Assess new investments and services contracts for equipment.
• Raise funds at an International and national level.
• Manage 25 people team of IRB Barcelona Core Facilities and Services area.
• Negotiate at top-level within scientific community

TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES & CORE FACILITIES DIRECTOR Job Requirements

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Post-graduate qualifications in a scientific discipline: Medicine, Biology, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biomedicine or Biochemistry.
• Doctorate degree
• Additional experience and/or qualifications in management would be at a distinct advantage.
• Proven 5-year experience in managing scientific staff and/or networking skills.
• Previous experience in managing facilities in international environments will be valued.
• Fluent English & Spanish. Catalan would be a plus.
• Availability to travel worldwide
