HVPD Opportunities Development Engineer High Voltage Partial Discharge Ltd (HVPD) are experts in the growing technology field of Partial Discharge (PD) test and monitoring technology for in-service medium and high voltage cables and plant. We offer a complete range of High Voltage Test equipment and solutions to our electricity generation, utility, industrial and commercial clients across our Global Customer Base. HVPD Ltd has an exciting opportunity, based in our head office in Manchester, UK for a Development Engineer to work on the on-going development and expansion of the company's product range.

Job Title: Development Engineer

Position Type: Full-time
Level/Salary Range: up to £27.5k depending on experience

Role and Responsibilities:
The engineer will work as part of the technical team to assist in the development and testing of new and existing PC and electronics based products for on-line PD measurement in high voltage cables and plant. The role will suit a recent graduate preferably with one or two years industrial experience. Essential functions include:

• Assisting in writing design specifications for new products.
• Interpret specifications and customer requirements.
• Testing, evaluating and writing reports on performance of newly developed prototypes.
• Writing in-house product documentation including test procedures, calibration records and assembly instructions.
• Sourcing of electrical and electronic components for use in new products.
• Well organised with ability to multi-task on several projects.

Electronics Development Engineer Job Requirements

Essential Requirements: The ideal candidate must have:

• Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering (or other relevant Engineering discipline)
• Genuine interest in Power/Energy Industry
• Good computer skills and understanding of computer networking.
• Good understanding in the following areas: Communication Systems, Power Systems, Electronic Circuit Design, Filter Design, Computer Systems, Instrumentation.

• Knowledgeable in the use of test instrumentation: Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analysers.
• Experienced in Linux operating system as user or administrator
• Experience of EMC testing, procedures and design criteria
• A valid and unrestricted driver's license
