The Job:
To undertake steam cycle, steampath, thermodynamic and related MI design for the development of Small Steam turbines, including the specification of module thermodynamic envelope for tendering and contract engineering.

Your Responsibilities:

• In this post you will be responsible for estimating task requirements, task planning and execution to an agreed timescale. You will also be accountable to other team members within the engineering team.
• You'll undertake work associated with the thermodynamic design of the steam cycle and steam path of small steam turbines. Both for Reaction and Impulse blade technologies
• The optimisation of steam path design to achieve blading and rotor mechanical integrity while achieving competitive performance and cost
• Presenting thermodynamic design for product development quality gate reviews
• Working with other engineers involved in the machine's development. The job includes liaison with other parts of the company and with external organisations around the world.
• Engineering analysis (using both industry standar MS applications and in-house bespoke scientific software), detailed concept thermodynamic cycle analysis and plant operational data
• Thermodynamic definition of development and contract steam path design
• Analysis of site performance test cycle data
• Generation and implementation of product development, process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
• Steam cycle and performance calculations
• Steam path definition and Shaftline thrust calculation

Thermodynamics Engineer - Small Steam Turbine Integration Job Requirements

Your background:
You'll have a Degree or quivalent in thermo/mechanical engineering or a similar discipline
Your experience will include, thermodynamic desgin preferably in the Power Industry, working with Steam or Gas turbines; Thermodynamic cycle definition; thermodynamic design of rotating machines, either reaction or impulse blade technology and experience in stressing of rotating and stationary parts
