Business Unit Identification:

The Identification business unit develops complete solutions for secure transactions and identifying people and objects. More than 1.5 billion SmartMX chips have already been used worldwide for encrypting personal information in credit and bank cards, ID cards and passports, and in NFC-ready smartphones. In Germany, NXP is the largest supplier of security chips in passports, in the new type of identity cards and in the country’s electronic health card.

The engineering department of Business Unit Identification develops ICs for high security applications, like ePassports, electronical ID cards, banking cards, event tickts, automated fare collection and many more.

Your Responsibilities: 

• Concepts for security architectures in hard- and software for resource-critical embedded systems in new markets
• Development of crypto library modules
• Design of new protocols, new security solutions
• Participation to cryptography related standardization activities
• Security review of end-to-end systems, new protocols, source code...
• Cryptanalysis
• Maintenance of the cryptography know how within BU ID

Cryptographer (m/f) Job Requirements

Your Profile: 

• Diploma or equivalent in mathematics, computer science, engineering or similar (PhD is a plus)
• Strong background in cryptography and security
• Preferably experience in embedded software
• Experience in the field of cryptography/security
• Creativity, yet with the focus on challenging but achievable goals
• Openness for new ideas
• Independent working style, but willingness to listen and to adapt
• Good communication skills
• The ability to interact smoothly with a diverse range of colleagues, customers and partners inside and outside of NXP
• Strong team player
