Role Summary/Purpose:

The role is for duration of 3 months and ideally intended for students currently studying a suitable Engineering subject at University who are looking for a summer placement between academic years. 

The purpose of the role will be for the successful candidate to assist with Systems Design, Development and Test of avionic products.

Essential Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the role include:-

• Reading and understanding Project Planning documents – inc. System Development Plans.
• Gaining knowledge of project tools and processes, e.g. DOORS, Dimensions, STRS
• Understanding the system, its safety criticality and functions within the aircraft.
• Producing clear, concise written reports and instructions.
• Capturing system requirements:

• Creating system designs:

• Validating, integrating and testing systems .
• Demonstrating initiative, developing solutions with minimal supervision and guidance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Ideally undertaking a Degree in Avionics, Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering or similar.
• Understanding and interest in applying embedded software and electronic hardware to aircraft systems.
• Ability to read, understand and adhere to mainstream System Lifecycle Flow Chart Procedures
• Good problem-solving and creative, solution-building skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Role to commence in summer 2013

• Ability to contribute effectively to team-working and group discussions
• Ability to work to timescales, achieve personal deadlines and contribute to team deadlines
• Methodical approach, including checking of own work
