Our Technology Division undertakes the development of innovative new products and equipment from concept through to full production, often incorporating considerable technical challenges.  As the next phase of our strategic growth begins, an opportunity has been created within our multi-disciplinary Software Engineering Team based in our Cambridge Technology Centre.

The Role :

The Software Engineering Team develops software using agile methodologies for embedded devices and PC applications for instrumentation, measurement and control systems.  We are looking to recruit innovative, adaptable and talented individuals with excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.

Embedded Software Engineer (Nano-positioning) – Cambridge Job Requirements

The Person :

With a degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or equivalent, you will be responsible for developing embedded control systems for Elektron’s nano-positioning products that are used in diverse applications such as microscopy, telescopy opto-electronics, semiconductor manufacture, robotic surgery, astronomy, defence and space, and hard disk drive testing.

You will have knowledge and experience in:

• C programming language
• DSP programming
• Control theory techniques such as PID controllers, closed-loop transfer functions etc

The successful candidates will have proven knowledge and experience of embedded software in a commercial environment, working knowledge of source code control, bug tracking systems and Agile/Scrum development techniques.

The successful candidate will have good written and verbal communications skills, be a good team player as well as an individual contributor, and show great technical flair and potential.
