Space Applications Services performs space system and software engineering for the European  Space Agency (ESA), National Space Agencies and the space industry. We are involved in  international unmanned and manned spacecraft programmes. We are looking for a summer  student, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following  position:

The company’s IT infrastructure includes file and print services, antivirus console, web, email, ftp,  version control and MS Terminal Services, running as virtualised servers. The high available virtual  infrastructure is based on Xen Cloud Platform and drbd storage.

The servers are implemented using Microsoft Windows, UNIX/LINUX and Industry standard  software such as: apache, samba, ncftpd, open ldap, zope/plone, media wiki, bacula and zimbra. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

The student will join the company System Administration Team to perform a number of tasks  including the following:

General company system administration tasks including:

• Install and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers and workstations;
• Migrating current wiki and plone based services to a newer version;
• Install and configure OS-Ticket.

• Upgrade the glpi/osreports server and data; 
• Development and deployment of reporting scripts.

• Performance and security analyses of the company vpn.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2nd or 3rd year of computer/sysadmin studies.
• Good Knowledge of English

• A chance to learn and apply the skills you are learning in an operational environment and  get hands on experience with current technology.
