Applications Services performs space system and software engineering for the European Space Agency (ESA), National Space Agencies and the space industry. We are involved in international unmanned and manned spacecraft programmes. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position:

Task and Responsibilities


The work will be centered at the European Space Research and Technology Center (ESTEC) at Noordwijk, The Netherlands, within the Control Systems and Sensors Section of the Control Systems Division. The position will include the following tasks & responsibilities:

• Contribute to AOCS sensor and actuator development in the frame of Research & Development contracts and laboratory work;
• Support to sensor and actuator procurement in ESA satellite programmes;
• Contribute to technical monitoring and control of these activities;
• Participate to reviews, identify deficiencies and implement solutions;
• Develop test equipment, be involved in laboratory test activities;
• Provide technical support to ESA project in monitoring the design, development and vertification of AOCS for Earth Observation, Scientific, Telecom or Navigation projects, including participation to reviews. 

Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS) Engineer Job Requirements

An appropriate scientific or engineering degree is required. Applicants shall also have a solid technical background and at least 5 years work experience in relevant fields of AOCS sensor and actuator design (electronic, software, general unit design and sensor principles) and their use in the AOCS subsystem. 

The candidate shall have technical and management skills to support the development of attitude sensors and actuators in the frame of R/D contract and support to projects, as well as practical hands-on skills to support the laboratory work. Exposure to relevant ECSS quality standards would be beneficial. 

Ability to operate in a team environment, good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills, as well as an excellent command of spoken and written English are also required.
