Abbott Third Party Manufacuring  

The Irish Contract Manufacturing Group, located in Sligo, was established to manage all aspects of the business relationship and the day-to-day activities related to the major international nutritional contract manufacturing business. The group is responsible for all aspects of quality, operations, finance, R&D, business excellence, issue resolution as well as the contract and business terms for these and future sites.
The group also evaluates and qualifies new sites and capabilities, as required, to meet developing business needs. Subject matter experts will be used where required to augment the skills and capacity of the group. Personnel in Ireland will also direct on-site resources where these are deemed necessary to oversee Abbott’s business.  

R&D ASSOCIATE (FOOD TECHNOLOGIST)

Objectives:  

The R&D Associate role will support the International Third Party Manufacturing Organization managing and overseeing nutritional product development, including creation of new formulas to meet consumer expectations across ANI markets.  

Under the guidance of Site Director, this position will be responsible for formulation/process development and technical leadership for strategic Resourcing, New Product Introduction initiatives, regulatory/complaint questions, and management of testing and stability program for International Third Party Manufacturers.  

Primary Function:

• Working autonomously and across time-zones to support multi-site and multi-disciplinary strategic initiatives, the R&D Associate will play a key and impactful role within the Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain organization.
• The R&D Associate will establish effective working relationships with Third Party Laboratories, ANI and ANSC Divisional functions including Regulatory, Medical, Tech Centre and Quality to provide support for strategic Resourcing and New Product Introductions.
• A lucid and logical thinker, the R&D Associate will bring a technical and scientific expertise to all matters pertaining to the delivery to market of new nutritional products at the International Third Party Manufacturers.
• An ‘innovation oriented’ contributor with excellent attention to detail and communication skills, the R&D Associate will have the ability and inquisitiveness to comprehend the details behind processes and transactions beyond his/her direct area of responsibility to ensure compliance to both regulatory and product design requirements.

• Design new or re-formulate existing nutritional products for manufacture at International Third Party Manufacturers.
• Provide technical leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams to develop several products in parallel.
• Follow-up of trials to support development efforts at International Third Party Manufacturers.
• Lead assigned strategic projects, including cost reduction initiatives and process improvements.
• Draft new and revise existing document packages (Deviations, Protocols, Manufacturing documents, RMS’s, RMP’s).
• Be accountable to identify, cost-out and oversee product testing and stability program requirements for existing products, new product placements and strategic resourcing initiatives.
• Provide technical expertise to the QA group in terms of investigation of complaints, deviations and Exception Reports, regulatory impact assessments.
• Identification of opportunities for continuous process improvement and sharing best practices across the supply chain to ensure maximum synergy across the Global Third Party Manufacturing operations.
• Position will also have responsibiltiy for 20+ indirect reports

• Bsc. in Food Science, Scieince or Engineering

• 5-7 Years experience in the food/pharmaceutical industry
