Junior Logistic Simulation Engineer Job Description

The department

The Systems Simulation department conducts studies into the logistical performance of complex systems that Vanderlande Industries provides. Both internal departments and our various international Customer Centres are supported during the quotation, project realization and service phase. Systems Simulation uses computer simulation models to monitor and analyse performance before installing the actual system. The projects are done globally and include a wide customer diversity.
The position

You are the key to success of our material handling solutions. You ensure that Vanderlande Industries meets its contractual obligations within time and budget. As a Logistic Simulation Engineer, you have basic knowledge of logistics and material handling industry terminology, so that customers can discuss and explore alternative approaches and operational concepts. You will work closely with internal and external customers. You are part of a team, using 3-D simulation software (including Automod) to solve complex logistical puzzles. You like to explore material handling processes and their dynamic interactions. Preparing simulation models, model validation and model quality assurance are important components of the position. You analyse the results and discuss the solutions with the customer. Achieving improvements and developing tailor-made decision support tools challenge your analytical, creative and communicative skills.

Junior Logistic Simulation Engineer Job Requirements

Your background

• Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Engineering, Mathematics or other relevant discipline;
• A good understanding of simulation, flow-analysis and quantitative analysis;
• Knowledge and experience with automated material handling systems, associated system interfaces, databases and WMS applications is an advantage;
• Programming experience is a plus;
• Excellent knowledge of English and Dutch language (French or German is a plus);
• Good communication skills (both verbal and written);
• You enjoy working in an international, multidisciplinary environment and you are willing to travel occasionally;
