Component Engineer Job Description

As Component Engineer working in the design department of a powertrain business you will be principally responsible for the design, development, sign-off and release of base engine components into production. All Component Engineers must hold a degree at least minimum 2:1 ideally Masters or PhD.
 
Responsibilities as the Component Engineer include:

• Knowledge of design for manufacture (manufacturing processes selection, material selection and process control technologies), machining techniques and technologies and tolerance design. Ability to interpret CAE and CFD analysis data to determine impact on the component design.
• Development of FMEA and design verification test plans. Ability to analyse test data results and impact on design.
• Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Occasional travel between other sites and suppliers within the UK and Europe may be required. 

Component Engineer Job Requirements

The ideal Component Engineer will have:

• Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree 2:1 or above.
• Powertrain experience.
• Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, 8D Techniques.

• Must be proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
• Must be able to handle a varied work load within tight time constraints.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a diverse team environment
• Knowledge of Ford AIMS, WERS and E-Tracker systems would be helpful
