The main responsibilities of a Software Development Solution Architect are:
To conceive and design the core modules of my clients digital publishing solution: front-end apps, back-end processing, HTML5 templates,… Their cloud based technology needs to assure the highest levels of reliability whilst handling big data volumes. In this job, you will be exposed to a broad variety of technologies such as iOS, Android, Microsoft Azure, .Net, HTML5 and Javascript, SQL Server, Amazon AWS,…
- You will have to design and improve the overall Platform and Solutions Architecture (front-end apps, integration with back-end, Template Editor), this in collaboration with their Head of Software Engineering and their Head of Product Development
- You will take the technical leadership for the development of new features together with a team of skilled software developers
- You will translate functional and business requirements into solid technical specifications which have to be in line with their proprietary publishing framework
- You will subdivide complex application development into smaller, manageable pieces of work
- You will set the standards for application development and you will define the application frameworks to be used
- You will regularly conduct code reviews with developers in order to guarantee the standards you set
- You are the driving force of implementing reusable modules and components
- You write out the technical specifications which make the goals clear for all team members

Software Development Solution Architect Job Requirements
What does Gentis expect from a Software Development Solution Architect:
Profile
- You have a Masters degree in Software Engineering or an equivalent degree
- Strong leadership and active in extracurricular activities
- You have a minimum of 7 years of software development experience of which 3 or more in an architect role
- You have a sharp analytical mind and strong thinking/problem solving skills
- Strong project management skills with a “can-do” attitude
- You don’t easily give up and are willing to give the extra mile
- You inspire others for your thirst for excellence
Skills - Excellent knowledge of software development principles like unit testing, continuous integration, scrum, version management are a given.
- Strong knowledge of Software Architecture and Design methodologies with a proven track record in a multi-tier client server environment.
- Hands on experience in software development preferable in C#, iOS or Android Projects.
- A thorough working knowledge of WCF, Web services, MS SQL Server is a plus, as well as a strong understanding of high volume transaction processing, server caching, Microsoft Azure or other cloud based scalable systems.
- Experience with front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, jQuery, Silverlight) is a strong plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence others to take action
