Senior Design Engineer (CAD) Job Description

Position Description:

Job role requires skills from design, CAE, manufacturing and Test and Development functions. This document identifies the scope for work for the additional CAD resource required to support Phase 1 of the programme.
 
Experience:

• High level expertise in both CATIA V5 R19 and Pro-E CAD systems
• Knowledge of concept and detail mechanical engineering design
• Awareness / familiarity with automotive suspension component design
• Familiarity with TeamCentre
• The engineer will be required to:
• Take design direction from the project executive engineer
• Work with the CAE and manufacturing functions to develop and refine the component designs to meet the performance, mass and costs targets.
• Produce CAD models in accordance with the project quality standards (typical OEM Quality)
• Produce 2D drawings to enable the procurement of production representative prototype parts.
• Drawings to be produced to the programme standards for production release.

• Provide concept designs for assigned components to be incorporated into the system design scheme
• Data to be released in a CATIA V5 format
• Release of CAD models and detail engineering drawings for assigned components
• Data to be released in a Pro-E format
• 3D models and detail drawings updated to incorporate new knowledge, address open issues and concerns identified during the procurement and build of the Alpha 1 systems
• Data to be released in a Pro-E format
