  Function Our Agilent Site, located in Church Stretton, Shropshire manufactures a diverse range of separation and diagnostic products for the Chemical Analysis, Pharmaceutical and Life Science industries. An opportunity has arisen to join our small but highly dedicated production team manufacturing liquid chromatography devices for these markets.
Working within the manufacturing laboratory you will be expected to work to an exacting standard of efficiency and quality, so a diligent yet hard-working mentality is a necessity. Full training will be provided.

The successful candidate duties will include: 1) Hands on approach to supporting the chemistries production group in the manufacture, testing and improvement of particle based products
2) To lead process improvement projects involving cross functional teams. Setting goals, assessing performance and providing progress reports to teams and senior management.
3) Application of Continuous Improvement initiatives within the IS9001 quality system.
4) Representing Church Stretton supply chain on new product introduction projects to ensure smooth handover and product scale up from product development to manufacturing.

Manufacturing Engineer Job Requirements

• The candidate will be a Polymer / Organic / Material chemist with expertise in the synthesis and characterization of polymeric materials in particulate form. They will have a demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative fashion as a technical expert to solve complex chemical design issues and to optimize manufacturing processes including process improvement and new product introduction.
• The candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a successful track record for both individual contribution and team project management.
• A working knowledge of LEAN and/or Six sigma approaches to root cause analysis is highly desirable.

• Experienced in leading cross discipline project teams to solve complex manufacturing issues.
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to present data to senior management, customers and peers through a variety of media.
• Ability to work under pressure delivering to deadlines.
• Flexible approach to work in order to satisfy customer requirements.
• Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving and root cause identification.
• Preferably trained to 6 sigma Green Belt level and / or knowledge of 5S approaches
• Implementation and maintenance of corrective actions / process improvements.
• Confidence to act as a trainer to peers.
• Willingness to undertake occasional international travel
• Knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality systems.
• Preferably experienced in the use and maintenance of MRP systems.
• Strong computer skills required for data analysis, report writing/presenting and document maintenance. Knowledge of access data bases or basic programming would be advantageous.
   

• Minimum degree level qualification in a science or engineering discipline
• Domain knowledge in polymer / organic chemistry / materials science
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• ISO 9001 quality system understanding
• Min of 8 years experience of working in a fast paced manufacturing environment
