(Senior) Tender Engineer Job Description

The (Senior) Tender Engineers challenge is timely preparation of technical proposals (technical safe, feasible, competitive and to be cost efficient) for the Commercial department. You also support with technical issues for clients, suppliers/subcontractors and internal Jumbo departments in relation to the proposal. The (Senior) Tender Engineer reports progress on engineering issues to the respective Tender Manager and ensures that commercial conditions of the contract are understood and are complied with.

The Job

• carry out the technical evaluation/review of tender documents, identify problem areas and deviations and ensure all matters are discussed with client(s) and clarified;
• prepare/submit initial design and engineering in accordance with tender specification and requirements. Deliverables: lifting study, deck layout, method statement, structural design, workability study, draft work, pricing of equipment;
• monitor, instruct and coordinate the workability study, structural work and drafting work;
• be in contact with suppliers/subcontractors to obtain quotes for outsourced engineering work and fabrication and prepare estimates for budget and firm bids;
• control outsourced engineering work;
• attend meetings such as internal technical and commercial meetings related to the proposal, Client bid clarifications, contract award handovers and internal project close-outs;
• be up to date with technical developments and innovations within the industry;
• continuously improve procedures and working practices.

(Senior) Tender Engineer Job Requirements

The profile 

• B.Sc or M.Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture Offshore Engineering or equivalent;
• at least 5 years engineering experience in marine construction industry (design/operations);
• preferably several years experience in a similar function;
• good communicative skills;
• fluent in English both verbal and in writing;
• good communicative skills;
• keen and analytical;
• creative, goal orientated problem solver;
• organized and secure, and able to work with deadlines;
• social team player with hands-on attitude.
