Senior Specialist Process Engineering
As a Senior Specialist Process Engineering you will work on teams whose job is to enable supply, respond to regulatory needs and support our strategy to deliver our important human health and animal health products. You participate in the planning and execution of capital projects and studies that support MSD business objectives.
You provide technical leadership on project teams from project initiation through execution and collaborate with internal partners and outside contractors. Next to that you manage the interface to equipment suppliers.
Successful performance requires technical subject matter expertise in process engineering across one or more areas of focus including Biologics Drug Substance, Sterile Drug Product, Pharmaceutical Formulation and Dosage, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. The candidate will support process engineering across the human health and animal health lines of business.
Primary activities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the process design, equipment selection, vendor management, PFD/PID development and HAZOP facilitation and participates in facility layouts.
- Responsible for development of process scope, including early conceptual design, development of user requirements, detailed design, and vendor management.
- Responsible for commissioning and qualification (IQ/OQ) of process systems.
- Liaise with other technical and quality functions to ensure successful technology transfers of new and in-line products.
- Maintain knowledge of current internal practices and industry trends and participates in professional organizations.
- Support all Quality and Safety initiatives.
- Act as a subject matter expert on process systems across biologics (e.g., bioreactors, filtration), sterile (e.g., freeze drying, filling, inspection), and pharmaceuticals (e.g., spray dryers, blending, compression, film coating), often requiring the design of innovative, new and unique process systems. Primary deliverables of the role include the completion of conceptual scope development, detailed design, peer reviews, equipment procurement / fabrication / installation, and commissioning and qualification. Critical-to-Success in this role includes the ability to bring sound leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to develop and maintain technical knowledge in process engineering with a particular.
Global Engineering Services is a truly global organization supporting projects all over the world. Although this position will be based in Boxmeer (The Netherlands), the role will involve travel to other MSD production sites and to engineering companies and equipment suppliers. Travel in Europe could average up to 25% of your working time. Senior Specialist Process Engineering Job Requirements
Qualification:
- B.S. in Engineering. B.S./M.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 10 years Pharmaceutical / Biotech Industry Experience
- Or with right aptitude but with less experience and/or different industry background may enter as a Process Engineer
Skills:- Excellent analytical abilities and a solid base in engineering fundamentals
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
- Proven written and verbal communication skills in English
- Mobility - The position will be based in Boxmeer, The Netherlands, however, the role will involve work assignments at other locations in the region or elsewhere in Europe or Globally.
