Department Information

The Software Development department within the business line Applications (AP) develops the software for applications to improve product-wafer/device performance for the semiconductor industry. This is done by developing and deploying these improvements and new functionality in on-product measurement, wafer level modeling and litho-cluster feedback and patterning control.
This is accomplished by going through the cycle of customer demonstration and joint development programs up to full roll-out of solutions tailored to, and integrated in customer high volume manufacturing. 

Given the speed of innovation and development in the semiconductor industry, the approach to productizing these solutions requires high responsiveness to customer feedback and high reliability to secure customer high volume manufacturing. We adopt an Agile/scrum development methodology to achieve both. 

Position in the organization

Group manager of a newly to be formed group (20 - 25FTE) within the department AP DE SW. The holder of this position reports to the department manager of AP DE Software Development. Due to significant growth of two existing groups, these two groups will be reorganized to three groups to enable focus and further growth.

As manager of the group, you lead and manage a group of professionals in the area of Software Application development related to semiconductor manufacturing.
You act as solution provider of these applications by driving development of new features and functions of the applications in your group. You achieve alignment with program management on the contents and staffing of application development projects.
You drive and develop the Application Software roadmap. You stimulate and facilitate the personal development of group members.

Main responsibilities

• The group manager leads the group (typically around 20-25 people); hires, coaches and instructs the members: assigns tasks, sets priorities, solves problems, monitors budgets
• The group manager organizes a strong customer focus in the group to achieve the responsiveness and reliability we need to secure expansion of the business.
• The group manager takes care that interaction and stakeholder management with the diverse and relevant parties (research, multidisciplinary D&E groups, Holistic Applications, CS and customers) is in place.
• The group manager takes care that the group has a balanced focus on providing long and short term software application solutions.
• The group manager contributes to the definition and implementation of departmental policy and departmental planning, including personnel, budgets, investments, resources and methods etc.
• Co-owner of the development and maintenance of software technology roadmap. You ensure the availability and adoption of best known methods, standards and tooling. You facilitate an effective learning feedback cycle and manage the relations of other competence owners in and outside ASML.
• In cooperation with departmental leaders and project management, the group manager is responsible for the planning and allocation of human resources to the various project activities.

ASML - Senior Manager Software Job Requirements

Education
Master or PhD degree in Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, Mathematics or Engineering and a background in software development in a technical environment.

Experience

>3 years relevant leadership experience in a technical software development environment or related working environment, preferably as group lead. Knowledge of software development is a must.
