R&D Engineer Binders and Coatings Job Description

For our international R&D Center in Enschede (The Netherlands) we are looking for a new colleague to join the Binders and Coatings team.

R&D Center
Research and Development in order to create new and high qualified products, is the fundamental base of our international R&D Center.
Within Enschede we have been able to create an environment where R&D specialists get all the freedom and opportunities to come up with new ideas to meet the increasing performance and environmental demands of the market. Part of our specialisms are: Binders, Coatings, Metals, Filters and Feeding Systems all working together in order to improve the quality of our products within the foundry business.

Responsibilities
As R&D Engineer you will continuously seek improvement on our new generation of binder and coatings products. You will provide support and input on various R&D projects besides you bring with you new insights and a good knowledge of chemistry and material science. 
 

• To implement the strategy and goals of the R&D Team “Coatings & Binders” and to contribute constructively to regular meetings;
• To support and being a member with added value to the R&D Team “Coatings & Binders” in developing new products and in further optimizing existing products finally generating an additional value to the Vesuvius business;
• To think outside the box and have the capability to work independently, but always with the knowledge being a member of the team;
• To evaluate critically new products, new equipment and new processes using your scientific skill, experience and competence, based on testing, characterization and analysis;
• To perform laboratory tests and experiments and optionally supporting trials at potential customers including reporting and with the attention to statistical representation of data;
• To work in and to maintain a clean environment and to contribute to work safe in accordance with internal Vesuvius Q-SHE policies, regulations and practices.

R&D Engineer Binders and Coatings Job Requirements

We require

• Minimum Master or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or other relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in a practical R&D environment. High level of understanding of fundamental organic / inorganic chemistry and materials science;
• Preferably knowledge of organic/polymer chemistry and technology;
• Sound practical laboratory skills, with a broad understanding of laboratory testing equipment and procedures;
• Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (written and spoken);
• Independent, accurate and a real team player.
