Professional Firefighter Officer
You will be a member of the FRS and will report directly to the Group Leader's office. As an officer, you will play a dual role -operational and managerial - as follows:
Operational duties (12 hours shift work: days, nights, week-ends):
- Lead and coordinate the actions of the different components of the group (control room, watch manager, ambulance teams, hazmat teams). Outside of working hours, you will act on behalf of your line management.
- Manage complex rescue and accident response operations and provide any other services requested by the Director-General.
- Coordinate the collaboration between FRS and its partners both internally and externally.
- Ensure the readiness for action of FRS personnel and equipment during shift work.
- Provide operational sections and other safety services with technical expertise, with a view to the logical, coordinated and rapid implementation of means and methods of responding to threats and incidents of all kinds.
- Process information relating to operational activities and communicate it to the team of officers and hierarchy.
- Check, approve and disseminate call-out reports.
Managerial duties, depending on the needs of the Organisation :- Participate in the operational and administrative management of the group (studies, proposals, decisions, and implementation).
- Manage a section in one of the following fields: safety control room, watch manager, advanced life support, technological risk.
or
- Evaluate, design, implement solutions, establish partnerships in one of the following fields: logistics, training, internal quality insurance, coordination and planning, radiological, chemical and environmental.
- Define the objectives of the firefighting teams and ensure that these objectives are achieved.
- Lead and implement various FRS projects.
- Prepare for, supervise and take part in CERN's internal and public events.
- Take part in training exercises in accordance with the FRS training plan and annual training programme.
- Develop collaborations with the various partners of the FRS and contribute to these partnerships.
Professional Firefighter Officer Job Requirements
Qualification required
- Bachelor in the field of professional fire and rescue management officer qualification, or equivalent, from a public body or a private body acting under the delegation of a public service.
- University-level technical diploma, or equivalent.
- Category B driving licence.
- Rank OF-1 minimum, OF-2 / OF-3 appreciated (based on the NATO system of equivalence).
