    ASML - Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) and/or Molecular Dyn Job Description

    ASML Research is looking for a Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) and/or Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulations Expert who will strengthen the Flow & Temperature group. The F&T group focusses on flow, temperature, contamination and tribological challenges for the next generation Lithography Tools.

    Within the group, DSMC and/or MD simulations become more and more important to calculate complex problems at low pressures. The expert will work in a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for fluid dynamic aspects in the project. 

    Job Description  

    • Build and run DSMC and MD models in existing software.
    • Generate design concepts and optimize designs based on the modeling work in close cooperation with other team members.
    • Take responsibility for the quality of the models and outcome and where needed validate the results against findings from literature, other models and if needed experiments.
    • Design and perform validation experiments.
    • Further develop existing software tools by implement new physics and/or functionalities.

    Context of the position
    The Research Flow & Temperature group is part of the Research department of ASML. Its task is to identify and fill in the technological gaps in the future roadmap of lithography and the lithography market. Our focus is on temperature and contamination control including the mechanical and material aspects of modules used in lithography tools.

    We work in small teams and deliver a proof of concept that can be transferred to Development and Engineering. We intensively work together with external research institutes and universities.

    ASML - Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) and/or Molecular Dyn Job Requirements

    Technical University PhD/Master (with 2-5 years of experience) in Physics or Mechanical Engineering with Specialization in Low pressure flow modeling and simulations 

    Experience

    • Broad knowledge and experience in modeling particles in rarefied gas flow.
    • Proven experience in using DSMC and/or MD Simulations in open source/commercial packages.
    • Experience working with Matlab.
    • Familiar with programming in C/C++ (Simulation packages are written in C/ C++).

    Personal skills
    • Open to learning techniques outside of the above mentioned fields in the future.
    • Autonomous while drive to work and cooperate in a highly skilled team of experts towards a common goal.
    • Inquisitive and strong personality.
    • Pragmatic attitude with an analytical view.
    • Good communicational skills and good knowledge of English.
