Senior researcher dynamic systems & control Job Description

You develop advanced controllers for smart and interconnected systems (machines, robots and vehicles).
Develop advanced model predictive, learning and robust adaptive control algorithms

• Set up research projects in advanced control technologies and
• tackle challenges in multicontext adaptive control,  robust control, learning control,  control of systems of systems, interconnected systems,… ;
• for a wide scala of industrial applications (e.g. collaborative robot, autonomous vehicle, forklift, weaving machine, agricultural robot, 3D printer, suspension in a car, hybrid drivetrain…).

Profile
 
You have

• A Master or PhD in Control Engineering or another relevant domain (Mechanical, Electronical, Electrical, Automotive, Modelling & Simulation, Mechatronics, Robotics, …);
• Strong theoretical background in the field of modelling, simulation and control;
• Practical experience in at least two advanced control technologies on dynamical systems;
• Track record in research (in academy or industry) where you applied theoretical concepts on practical case problems;

• An expert user of modeling software (Matlab, Simulink).
• A conceptual thinker inspired by research problems and technological innovation
• A good listener and communicator who can build sustainable relationships;
• Pro-active and taking initiative;
• Enthusiastic about developing new project ideas;
• Open minded and a team player.

Flanders Make is the strategic research centre for the manufacturing industry. Our mission is to strengthen the long-term international competitiveness of the Flemish manufacturing industry. That’s why we work together with SMEs and large companies on pre-competitive, industry-driven technological research, resulting in concrete product and production innovation in the vehicle industry, the manufacturing industry, and production environments.
 
Because of our unique position between industry and research, our teams combine application and system proficiency with technological and scientific knowledge. We focus on 4 key competences, all based on modelling and virtualization:
1.            Sensing, monitoring, control and decision-making for products and production
2.            (Co)design and optimization of products and production
3.            Motion product specification, architecture, and validation
4.            Flexible assembly specification, architecture, and validation
 
We operate from our offices in Leuven and Lommel and from research facilities at the Flemish universities.
