Controls Engineer Job Description

OPRA Turbines is a young and dynamic company designing, marketing, manufacturing and servicing gas turbines. We are based in Hengelo, the Netherlands, at the High-Tech Systems Park. Our advanced, clean, low emission gas turbine generating sets are based on our own unique and patented technology. Our key markets are 1.5-10 MW power generation solutions for oil and gas, marine and industrial customers. We believe gas turbines will continue to play an essential role in the future energy landscape, especially in our target market segments such as flare gas applications, combined heat and power and the very promising waste-to-energy applications. About the job
As a Controls Engineer at OPRA you are responsible for developing safe, cost effective, reliable and maintainable control systems for our gas turbine generator sets. This is a unique opportunity where you will have the possibility to take on broad responsibilities and set the future of our gas turbine control systems.
 
Your main responsibilities would be:

• Developing and designing of control systems for new and novel gas turbine applications;·      
• Engineering and implementing application software used for the OPRA gas turbine generator sets;
• Creating Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications for the operation of OPRA gas turbine generator sets;
• Providing the Company's sales and service departments with technical support.
• Providing expert advise in controls related issues towards external/internal customers.

Controls Engineer Job Requirements

What are our requirements?

• MSc or Bsc in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or similar;
• Relevant working experience as a Controls Engineer, focused on PLC control systems;
• Experience with Siemens Step7 and/or Allen Bradley RSLogix programming software or other PLC programming application
• Experience with Siemens WinCC Basic and/ or Wonderware InTouch ME HMI software or other industrial HMI software;
• Experience and understanding of P&ID’s
• Knowledge of standards like IEC 61508 and machinery directive is an advantage;
• Knowledge of controls systems for engine control, especially turbine control is an advantage;
• Fluent in English.
