Solmates is a fast growing and ambitious OEM company, with its mission to position PLD as a mainstream deposition technology equal to ALD and sputtering.
Solmates is a spin-off company of the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, located at Science Park Twente, in Enschede, the Netherlands. It was founded from a specialized PLD research group (IMS) chaired by prof. Dave Blank and prof. Guus Rijnders. Its employees are highly recognized specialists in PLD of which many have a semiconductor industry background.
Since Solmates was established in 2007 it has generated multiple patents and has brought pulsed laser deposition from lab scale to production level. Currently Solmates has over half a dozen development and pilot production systems running at various customers worldwide.
Description of work
Solmates is a high-end OEM equipment supplier for the MEMS, LED & Semiconductor market. To support continuous growth the Laser Engineer is part of the team responsible for development of the next generation PLD deposition equipment. The engineer will be part of a highly motivated project team reporting to the director strategic developments.
Main tasks of the Laser Engineer:
• Lead complex engineering task
• Collaborate with various university groups
• Work with suppliers
• Set-up, execute and analyze experiments
• Determine hardware requirements.
Required and desired competences and experience:
• Goal oriented
• Fast learner and decision maker
• Hands-on: Perform all necessary tasks, both on detail level (measurements, analysis, runs, etc.) and on higher level (strategic, timing, specs, etc.)
• Knowledge of/experience with:
a. Laser operation and laser matter interaction.
b. Ablation and plasma formation/activation
c. Basic knowledge of thin film deposition and patterning (sputtering, evaporation, Litho, etching, etc.)
• DoE /design for six sigma experience
