Lead Interaction Designer UI/UX Job Description

What will you do as Lead Interaction Designer UI/UX?
A day in the life of...
You will start the day together with your team (3 fte) in the form of a standup where you determine the main priorities of that day. This results in a discussion about a critical concept on how to operate certain driver controls for the car. In your vision this could be one of the key innovative solutions. Which is why you and your team are putting so much effort into it. After you have determined the main priorities together with your team, you have a call with a partner that is developing the UI for Lightyear One. You support them with solving any blockers that might have occurred, so they can continue their work. After a healthy lunch you have an interview with a candidate to fill a new position for an interaction designer. You identified the need for the expansion of the design team together with the Chief Design. After a positive interview, the next meeting is with a new supplier visiting our office. You will review their technology and capabilities with a critical eye to assess if they can deliver the quality you deem necessary for our product’s user experience. To round things up, you sit down with a small engineering team to discuss the difficulties they have with implementing certain functionalities of which you believe are key to the user experience of the car. 
Your main tasks will focus but not be limited to:

• Leading the HMI (UX&UI) efforts with a focus on Lightyear One
• Guiding the team on content, processes and methods
• Defining and applying main principles to the product
• Leading the team and structure the decision making process
• Making sure that the UX definition is implemented by engineering
• Optimizing the existing way of working, making it scalable for next demanding projects
• Deliver a world leading automotive experience; physical and digital!
• All with the mission to bringing UI of Lightyear One to market
• Further build an develop the team
• Acquiring suppliers/partners

Lead Interaction Designer UI/UX Job Requirements

What do we expect from a Lead Interaction Designer UI/UX at Lightyear?
To succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear, pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. In addition, we are looking for someone with an ambitious attitude who learns from the past (tried and tested) but who is especially open to transforming new developments or ideas into the "tried and tested" of the future! You are also someone with a high sense of responsibility and a cooperative attitude. You like short lines of communication. You have excellent communication skills, you are a self starter with a ‘can do’ mentality. You can create/build from scratch, you are committed, punctual, quality minded, a team player, flexible, stress resilient and of course a fast learner. Furthermore you'll bring:

• A Master Degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design or any related technical domain
• At least 6-10 years of experience in UI/UX Interaction Design
• A result driven mindset , with a proven track record, often delivering under tight deadlines
• You have a basic understanding of electronics, prototyping and 3D printing
• You are very analytic with a pragmatic attitude
• You are a team player with a flexible, agile attitude and excellent communication skills. You are fluent in English. Dutch proficiency is a plus
• You are able to introduce and improve processes and to lead a team of highly talented engineers
• You  have hands-on experience with software such as: Arduino, Processing, Unity, Kanzi, Qt, Framer and Adobe/Sketch
• "Casual programming" experience is a plus
• Availability for 40 hours a week
