Junior Product Engineer Job Description

In recent years, Bugaboo’s creative entrepreneurial drive has resulted in a rapid global expansion.Our headquarters is located in Amsterdamwith offices around the globe and our own manufacturing facilities in China.  

For our innovation centre we are always looking for engineers who would like to be involved in the productdevelopment process to create engineering solutions that support the conceptual product design and its story.The focus is to find and validate creative technical solutions that fulfill all requirements from the product specification like look & feel, performance, safety, durability, cost and manufacturability. Our engineers are constantly in close contact with the production locations in China to discuss directly with suppliers and toolmakers about technical feasibility of parts and production methods.  

Currently we are looking for two enthusiastic young professionals for our headquarters in Amsterdam who just finished (or are about to finish) their education to complete our engineering team.  

The following tasks apply to the job  

• Evaluate technical feasibility of design concepts, based on factors as look & feel, performance, safety, durability, cost and manufacturability;
• Create technical requirement specifications for subsystems of the product;
• Create multiple technical solutions for product functions in a ”set based”’ way;
• Create prototypes and evaluates solutions;
• Conduct risk assessments FMEA of the product;
• Preliminary technical validation by calculation, simulation or testing;
• Prepare technical data package of the product for handover: 3d files, FMEA, validation reports etc;
• Assist in production start-up;
• Research materials, technologies, and sustainability;
• Modify and refine existing products to improve performance or to comply with changed regulations;
• Travel to production locations to discuss directly with suppliers and toolmakers about technical feasibility of parts and production methods.

Junior Product Engineer Job Requirements

Requirements

• University or College degree in an mechanical engineering curriculum;
• Understanding of engineering processes from requirements to validation;
• Good sense for the relation between design &engineering and overall concept story;
• Knowledge of materials and production techniques (technical plastics properties, injection moulding, basic metal production techniques) and engineering of complex constructions in plastic and metal;
• Problem solving skills;
• Understanding tolerance analyses & calculations for strength en stiffness of parts;
• Experience with Solidworks is an asset;
• Good communication skills and fluent (written and spoken) in English;
• Pro active, social skills and ability to work in a team;
• Willing to travel;
• Creative, accurate, flexible and enthusiastic young professional.
