The Business Specific brief
Working on a key part of the Skype architecture intended to manage and use Resources such as CPU, Bandwidth and Battery. Reporting directly to a Program Manager, you will be an engineer in our Stockholm office.
You will be required to proactively contribute to design decisions, and implement software according to existing and future designs and architectures. You will be interfacing directly with other technical experts across the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing new features in tight cooperation with designers, product management and quality engineers, iterating daily and contributing to maintaining a healthy build
- Implement software as designed, primarily in C# over Azure but C++ development experience will be an advantage
- Employing test driven development and unit testing, ensuring the code can be tested and verified as an independent system
- Demonstrating creativity in finding optimal ways to implement features
- Making sure that software components are consistent and work well with each other.
- Liaising directly with people across Skype to achieve needed goals without being micromanaged.
- Taking responsibility and ownership for the team's work

Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Expertise/Experience
- Significant professional software development experience in an organization with multiple interdependencies
- Significant experience of working as a member of high-performing cross-functional teams
- Experience of developing scalable Cloud Services using the Azure platform
- Experience in multithreaded programming, asynchronous and event driven application design
Expected functional / technical skills - Expert C# development
- Detailed knowledge of the Azure Cloud Service platform
- Great overall understanding of software development process and practices including Scrum, TDD, unit testing and working in close cooperation with other engineers
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
