GE is an equal opportunity employer, offering a great work environment, challenging career opportunities, professional training and competitive compensation.As a Service Engineer you will be based at our Nordic Office at Lysaker supporting new and existing customers within the Marine and Offshore segment. On-site work will include service, commissioning, trouble-shooting, training and supervising.

Essential Responsibilities:

• To undertake commissioning and service work as required
• Telephone and email support, incluidng assessment of Drive trip history data, and proposals for solutions to problems.
• Liaison with other units, customers, suppliers and sub-contractors
• Will involve extensive time working away from the office to support training, customer meetings, acceptance tests, commissioning and service contracts
• Checking that company and suppliers' equipment is installed in a safe and operable condition in accordance with the designed requirements
• Servicing of DP and Automation Systems based on networked computers and PLC equipment anda SCADA systems. On marine projects these systems include peripherals such as Taut Wire, GPS, Sonar Vessel Positioning Measurement Equipment, UPS systems, Laser Systems and Joystick controls. Including system tuning and modifications and setting to work
• Servicing, fault-finding and training on Automation Systems and Dynamic Positioning Systems ranging from legacy equipment to modern systems
• To update as-commissioned documentation/drawings
• Take part in customer training in-house and on-site. Including making of course documents
• Comply with all company and customer health and safety regulations

Field Service Engineer Job Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Experience with Drives and/or Dynamic Positioning systems from site work
• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• Good communication skills, written and verbal in Norwegian and English
• PC literate and familiar with all Microsoft Office tools
• Hardware familiarity, including PLCs, PCs, network equipment etc
• PLC software familiarity (ladder diagram, functional block diagram, etc). Ability to create PLC software functions and analyze software functionality
• Understanding of power systems, power management and rotating machines (High voltage motors and generators)
• Presentable and customer-focused
• Willing to travel within the Nordic Countries and overseas to meet the business needs
• Able to work onboard ships at Sea and on Offshore installations
• Driving license

• Familiarity with IEC and Marine classification society rules
• Knowledge of drive train and/or power system design
• Knowledge of control systems
• Simulation programming
• Previous knowledge and experience of DP or drive products and systems
• Practical experience of retrofitting of automation or drive systems
• Valid Offshore survival training certificat
• Recognized Health and Safety training in risk assessment
• Knowledge of French
