Role Summary/Purpose

Reporting to the Hardware & Test Leader for Avionics UK, the Analogue Design Sub-Section Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the analogue hardware design team.

Essential Responsibilities

• Developing the UK Avionics Centre of Excellence for Analogue Electronics design. 
• Liaising with the internal stakeholder community to identify both the immediate and longer-term needs for analogue electronics skills. 
• Identification and planning for future industry trends, technologies, tools and standards. 
• Recruitment, development and provision of appropriately-skilled analogue electronics resource, both locally and through global GE sites, to deliver projects. 
• Providing coaching and line management to the analogue electronics team. 
• Acting as the focal for the CIPS product line within Hardware & Test function, including: 
• Responsibility for hardware design aspects of CIPS projects from TG1 to TG9 inclusive 
• Ownership of the hardware cost estimates and oversight of technical proposal preparation 
• Providing input and guidance to technology roadmaps 
• Ensuring designs are in accordance with company and industry standards and processes.
• Supporting, leading and contributing to the communication of E&T, Avionics and section goals, initiatives and productivity improvement. 
• Advising & delivering the analogue design of avionics hardware in line with project and business objectives.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and significant post-graduate experience, or similar level of knowledge and experience. 
• Electronics design experience for high integrity products. 
• Proven ability to lead a team of engineers in an electronics design environment. 
• Ability to build effective relationships internally with Operations, Engineering, and Programme stake holders, and externally with customers. 
• Experience of supplier/sub-contract management 
• Proactive approach to identifying and solving problems 
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the business 
• UK driving licence. Desired Characteristics • System-level understanding of modern commercial and/or military avionics systems 
• Cost and schedule management experience for a medium value project or project portfolio (excess of £5million)
