Product Engineer Job Description
As Product Engineer you are responsible for developing components and sub-assemblies from a technical perspective to meet customer and internal design specifications. It’s your challenge to perform your tasks within the budget, against the agreed quality level and within the given time plan. In this position, you will work within the R&D center and you operate in multidisciplinary project teams. You report directly to the Manager Project Engineering.
What do you do as Product Engineer?
- Perform technical risk analysis using formal design engineering tools (DFMEA / GD&T / DFA / CAD / CAE / Design Reviews);
- Ensure all technical responsible deliverables are met in compliance with customer and internal company product & project gateways;
- Technical liaison for CAD Design Engineers and component suppliers;
- Perform feasibility studies, technical calculations and design reviews to verify the proposed design;
- Specify the engineering activities to be able to build prototypes based on initial design concepts;
- Review and evaluate product designs concerning costs, manufacturability, quality and accessibility;
- Make recommendations based on reviewing the robust design engineering tools to determine risks.
Product Engineer Job Requirements
What do we expect from you?
- Finished degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or other relevant study on a BsC or MsC level.
- Recently graduated or 1-2 years of work experience. Automotive experience is a plus but not always necessary.
- As a professional you have a service/customer oriented approach with good analytical and organizational skills. In your work you focus on results and you are able to manage your planning and set priorities.
- As the automotive industry is focused on Quality you are as well. Therefore you bring good problem solving skills with a pragmatic and pro-active approach.
- It is important to have strong written and verbal communication skills in English. German, Dutch and French are a plus.
