Senior Mechanical Engineer Automotive Job Description

For an innovative company in the automotive industry, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. You will be responsible for identifying market opportunities and structures to have a positive contribution to the sustainable development of our client. You will participate in project teams and you will independently be active with product definitions, product design, process design and prototype studies.

R&D tasks:
• Identify product and patent opportunities;
• Perform measurements and research;
• Execution of design studies (early-stage sketches);
• Keep track of literature and market developments.

Product design activities: • Participation in business case studies;
• Set up product definitions (preparing packages of requirements);
• Product design (CAD, FMEA and FEM);
• Management of the bill of materials (BoM)
• Design processes (production flow-chart development);
• Coordinate and participate regarding the production of prototyping;
• Design and implement quality plans (Product Control Plans).

Operational tasks:
• Preparing work packages (orders / drawings / instructions / inspection);
• Actively participate in and monitor the realization of the projects;
• Perform quality inspections.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Automotive Job Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor/Master degree in Mechanical Engineering;
• Proficient user of CAD packages (Creo Elements);
• Thorough knowledge of FMEA studies and FEM Studies;
• Experience with installing various systems, like oil, cooling water, air, etc.;
• Thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic hand tools;
• At least 5 years experience within the automotive sector.
