Cost Manager Job Description

As a cost manager you are accountable for the overall budget and cost controlling in large building projects of various kinds. You are familiar with the construction market and aware of the trends and fluctuations. Therefore, you are able to translate the programme of requirements into reliable budget estimations. Through your structured and transparent approach, you are able to give the client confidence his project will be realized within its quality expectations and the costs and risks are managed throughout the course of the project. Hereby, you are able to guarantee certainty of outcome and assure the clients’ project will be value driven. The cost control process you apply allows the accommodation of change and flexibility in a managed way and decisions are always based upon underpinned and documented information. 

Further, as a cost manager, you are also familiar with:

• RICS standards and norms
• Budget estimates, contingency allocation and cash flow models
• Financial and cost reporting
• Market trends and benchmarking cost
• Assessing sustainable alternatives (eg. BREEAM, etc.)
• Value engineering and economical design
• Lifecycle cost analysis and total cost of ownership

Cost Manager Job Requirements

• You have a technical background and substantial project cost management experience within building projects.
• A first experience in managing/ coordinating a team is preferable.
• You have extensive knowledge and experience in costing and estimating construction projects.
• You possess the ability to organize large amounts of information into a coherent and meaningful format while working on multiple prospects simultaneously.
• You have excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills in Dutch/French and English.
• You think and handle customer-minded.
