Program smart sensors
Given the trend towards machines with more on-board intelligence, more sensors will be integrated in machines. Information from these sensors is used in the machine controllers to improve machine performance and realize autonomous machines.

To manage all these sensors, intelligence will be integrated as much as possible in the sensor node itself. Methods need to be developed for optimal processing of sensor signals under varying operating conditions. Furthermore, sensor signals will be optimally combined to maximize the information retrieval from the installed sensor base.

For its further growth FMTC is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Mechatronic engineer: smart sensor.
 
Function
Develop methods for optimal processing of sensor signals under varying operating conditions to retrieve the information needed for condition monitoring of the machine, quality assessment of the product, as well as situational assessment of the machine environment:

• developing novel signal processing algorithms for a variety of sensors and technological problems, algorithms for sensor data fusion, virtual sensors (e.g. using Kalman or particle filters), simplified mechatronic system models;
• validating the results on machines from companies;
• presenting the results of the research to the companies and on seminars and conferences;

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or Applied Sciences
• Track record in research
• Deep knowledge of digital processing and machine learning algorithms;
• Experience with Matlab or Python;
• Broad technological knowledge needed for the research of mechatronic systems (such as insight in physical effects on a machine);
