EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency. Its role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.

EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.

Are you able to apply your broad and up-to-date knowledge in Information Security (IS) to support the implementation of EUMETSAT’s strategic initiatives across the critical domains of operational ground segments and IT systems?
 
EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for monitoring weather and climate. Bringing together the resources of 30 Member States, we develop and operate a range of satellite systems surveying the atmosphere, ocean and climate that delivers data 24 hours a day. Our data is vital to weather forecasts that protect lives and property and to monitoring the changing climate. EUMETSAT is now developing the next generation of satellite systems, shaping its long-term future.
 
In line with our strategic focus on security, we have an opportunity for an Information Security Engineer to be based within our Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division.  You will supervise, co-ordinate, implement and assess the information security for all of EUMETSAT’s operations.  You will be part of a growing team of security professionals assigned to ensure our infrastructure and computer systems are robust and safe, now and in the future.
 
In this role you will supervise, co-ordinate and verify the implementation of the Information Security Management System (ISMS) for all EUMETSAT systems, including building infrastructure, network, storage, computers and software.
You will also support the implementation of security measures across the whole of our organization and advise our Security Team about implementing a fast reaction capability to any identified threat or vulnerability.
The ability to be proactive in the management of risks and the identification of pragmatic solutions is central to being successful in this role.   Additionally you should have the skills to assess any proposed changes and ensure that there is no security risk to our organisation.

Information Security Engineer (VN 17/32) Job Requirements

Along with a university degree in a relevant discipline, such as Computer and Network Security, you will have in-depth knowledge and proven experience of:
 

• ISO/IEC 27001 & 27002
• security solutions and architectures for computer networks, computer systems and application software
• defining security-related requirements
• conducting security audits and ethical hacking on operational systems

• Performing security management in 24/7 high-availability operations environments; Project and technical management / coordination;
• Access and identity management solutions, and Cyber Ark in particular;
• Intrusion detection and preventions solutions;
• Vulnerability management solutions, and Qualys in particular;
• Cloud technologies and Security in the Cloud;
• Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) experience, and potentially with hands on experience on Splunk;
• Next Generation firewalls: Palo Alto and Cisco in particular;
• Linux & Windows operating systems;
• Windows Desktop Security / Windows 10.
