Team/division description:
Within Toyota Motor Europe’s R&D division, Prototype department supports new vehicle development mainly in following 3 area’s :
- Prototype Parts Procurement : Timely delivery of prototype parts, meeting our highest Quality standards at best Cost
- Rapid Prototype manufacturing : Provide quickest 3D “printing” parts solution by In-house and Outsource technologies for design verification purposes
- Prototype Quality Assurance, Vehicle production and Evaluation : High quality prototype parts and vehicles to ensure reliable evaluations
Your responsibilities: Your working environment will contain top secret information and future Toyota vehicles which are not on the market yet. Therefore, you must strictly act within our confidentiality rules.
All activities have to be carried out with putting Safety as the first priority, at all times.
In this role, engineering approach, willingness to learn and “5why” mind-set are mandatory to grasp/improve the parts- and vehicle-structure.
Also, timely Project management is a key requirement for this job. We expect you to study and propose priorities based on importance of requirements. Within Toyota’s compressed development lead-time, speed and accuracy of conducted work is very important.
You will cover mainly 3 area’s in Prototype : Parts quality, Vehicle production engineering and Evaluation, both in Europe and Japan.
For Parts Quality :- Monitoring and checking suppliers’ Quality performance based on Toyota requirements
- Establishing and maintaining long-term stable relationship with suppliers
- Supporting supplier to understand Toyota Quality requirements for prototype orders
- Leading Kaizen (continuous improvement) activity with suppliers, including packaging improvements
Also you will look after Prototype production engineering and Vehicle evaluation :- Prototype production :
- Coordinate production of Prototype vehicles, body modifications and work side-by-side with the related design engineers.
- Detect assembly problems, solve the problem by finding immediate countermeasure together with related engineers.
- Report quality of prototype vehicle to related divisions and management
- Prototype evaluation : Evaluate static items – by using the Toyota Standards – and detect/solve the concerns to ensure vehicle Quality for passing our highest Quality requirements
- Wiring and Piping evaluations :
- Evaluate potential for Fire hazard caused by electrical short-circuit
- Fluid leakage (fuel, LLC,etc) caused by damage to hose/tube
- Service ability :
- Evaluate parts/vehicle-structure and periodical inspection points to confirm work-efficiency during part-replacement, replenishments, etc.
- Water leakage :
- Evaluate water entry into cabin by exposing the vehicle to artificial precipitation (rain).
- Body repair ability :
- Evaluate body-structure to confirm work-efficiency during repair of collision-damage.
Graduate Prototype Engineer - R&D Prototype Department Job Requirements
Your profile:
- You have a Bachelor degree (minimum) or Master in mechanical or electrical engineering
- You have maximum of 18 months professional working experience (Graduate position)
- You have Project management skills
- You have Reporting skills (making reports and explaining before an audience)
- You have good problem solving and analytical skills
- You are a Self-Motivator, Team player and have excellent communication skills
- You are fluent in English, other European languages or Japanese are an asset
- You are willing to travel frequently (In EU, Turkey, Japan, US,…)
