Initial Buyer Controls Job Description

The Initial Buyer Controls is responsible for controls components and assemblies at a tactical level. Are you the controls hardware and technology specialist and a procurement professional? This might be your next step!

Your department
The Procurement department is part of our Supply Chain Center Europe within our Global Supply Chain organization. The Supply Chain Center Europe (SSC EU) is responsible for the integrated supply of goods and services to projects. Smooth execution of projects is depending on a strong supply chain. Quality, capacity, short lead times and on time delivery are key as well as sharp pricing, high flexibility and strong commitment of suppliers.

For projects, the Procurement team is responsible for tactical and operational procurement. The team supports projects in all phases (sales, execution and service) and focusses - for Vanderlande- and third party equipment and services - on first time right budgeting, early supplier allocation, identification of opportunities and mitigation of risks.

Your position
The Initial Buyer Controls is part of the controls team consisting of a sourcing manager, an initial buyer and two operational buyers. Within this team, the Initial Buyer is responsible for all tactical procurement activities.Responsibilities of the Initial Buyer are:

• Manage framework contracts for one or more suppliers
  • Implementing framework contracts and explaining framework contracts to internal stakeholders
  • Developing agreements with suppliers to address VI's dynamic demand, including supporting project-specific (pricing) agreements
  • Monitoring workload at suppliers (demand/supply balance at supplier) and communicating with suppliers to increase/decrease supply capacity
  • Identifying and resolving risk and opportunities (related to costs, lead time, etc.)
• Measure performance of suppliers related to framework contracts
  • Monitoring / improving performance of suppliers (a.o. by information sharing with operational buyers and quality assurance employees)
  • Suggesting improvements in framework contracts to the respective sourcing manager
  • Providing supplier performance info to respective sourcing manager and
  • Developing supplier capabilities (in consultation with sourcing manager.

Initial Buyer Controls Job Requirements

Your profile
The ideal candidate has the following profile:

• A bachelor or master degree, experience with controls through education or experience
• About 3-5 years of sourcing and procurement experience in an international High Tech environment, ready for a next challenge
• Good contract management & negotiation skills
• Excellent communication (Dutch & English) and stakeholder management skills
• Problem solver, Adaptive to change
• Willingness to travel, up to 25%.
