Spicer Off-Highway Belgium nv, based in Bruges (Sint-Michiels), is part of Dana Corporation, a listed American multinational. The company employs globally approximately 22.000 people realizing a turnover of USD 10 billion.
The plant in Bruges belongs to the Off-Highway Division of Dana and is the competence centre for torque converters and powershift transmissions for heavy-duty vehicles. Over 550 employees are responsible for development, production and sales.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - New transmissions
 
Job description 
With your knowledge and expertise you bring the new product development team to a higher level. You make design proposals for new transmissions and improvements to existing transmissions. You work closely together with you colleagues of product planning and design & drafting. You perform detailed calculations and define the specifications in order to arrive at the final product and a detailed layout.
Throughout the project, you act as a technical leader where you monitor and adapt feasibility, quality, budget and timing where necessary in continuous collaboration with the various departments.

You are responsible for the preparation of a test plan, writing specifications in collaboration with the lab and your colleagues, following the tests, draw conclusions and where necessary make the appropriate adaptations to the product in order to make the product ready for production.
By research and study, you enlarge your knowledge on overall transmission design. You can easily handle existing calculation methods and models and are prepared to develop new models in order to get a more accurate and thorough theoretical approach of reality.
You offer all around support and problem solving, both internally and externally and report to the hydrodynamic transmission engineering manager.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER Job Requirements

Profile 

• You hold a degree in higher education (Master in Engineering) and have a vast experience (5 to 10 years) in a similar function.
• You possess general knowledge of metalworking (machining, heat treatment, assembly) and show a solid experience in the preparation of simulations and models in e.g. Matlab or a similar program and in analyzing noise and vibration.
• Thanks to your analytical mindset and your ability to prepare simulations and models in an in-depth way you are able to track down and develop product innovations.
• You are a good communicator (Dutch – English) and show an accurate and creative spirit. You take initiative, have a hands-on mentality and are stress resistant.
