Summary/Purpose

The Engineering Operations Leader is a part of the Engineering leadership team reporting to the General Manager for Engineering. The Engineering Operations Leader role will own the functional operations to drive a consistent approach to operations within the Engineering team. This role will be responsible for management of budgets and providing input into the planning cycles, creating and maintain Engineering Quality’s metrics and training needs.

Essential Responsibilities

The Operations Leader is a part of the Engineering leadership team reporting to the General Manager for Engineering. The Operations Leader role will own the functional operations to drive a consistent approach to operations within the Engineering team. This role will be responsible for management of budgets and providing input into the planning cycles, creating and maintain Engineering Quality’s metrics and training needs. 

The Engineering Operations Leader shall provide assistance to the Norway Engineering General Manager and the Engineering Directors of Manifold & Connections, Power and Systems Engineering.
This assistance consists of: 

• Operational metrics to monitor efficiency and utilization 
• Lead growth playbook, S2 and Ops planning activities and input for Engineering team 
• On time delivery metrics and Line of Balance to meet customer and business expectations 
• Quality metrics overview 
• Quality improvements through Root Cause Analysis and Audits 
• Bureaucracy reduction and cost out 
• Engineering plans for the engineering part of all delivery projects 
• Direct Material Productivity – Drive efficiency and optimization of engineering execution 
• Expertise, support and training on engineering IT tools such as ePIMS, ePIC etc. 
• Planning, facilitation and overview on training in engineering topics. 
• Drive engineering execution improvements through process simplifications, quality improvements, Cost savings and initiatives 
• Responsible to execute within the budgets set for the Engineering Operation Department

Engineering Operations Leader Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements

• Engineering degree 
• Min. 7 years of industrial experience. 
• Project management experience and demonstrated leadership skills 
• Experience within engineering and knowledge based professions 
• Ability to work across organization boundaries inside and outside company and have strong influencing skills. 
• Excellent inter-personal skills to communicate and interface with GE Oil & Gas personnel, suppliers, clients, client representatives and competent bodies. 
• Strong English language skills, both written and verbally Desired Characteristics
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams 
• Operations or Project Financial Experience 
• Knowledge of GE internal tools – SAP, Oracle, ePIMS, ePiC etc. 
• Able to identify key drivers in data sets 
• Team player and ability to self-direct 
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing 
• Demonstrated design creativity and problem solving capabilities 
• Desire to obtain a larger view of Energy, including the business and planning aspects 
• Strong Influencing skills 
• Six-Sigma Green Belt certified
